Iberia Parish Library Youth Services

Youth services include children and young adults, from birth to 17 as well as their parents and caregivers. The library offers a variety of programs and resources available to the youth of Iberia Parish and surrounding communities. All library branches have children’s areas where parents/caregivers and children can play, read, and grow.

Children’s Services

Check out some of the services and resources available to our younger patrons and their parents/caregivers:

  • Circulating items geared toward children of all ages, including picture books, early reader books, chapter books, audiobooks, magazines, DVDs, and more!
  • Accelerated Reader Books for School – Each book on our shelf is stamped with an Accelerated Reader point base for your convenience.
    • Need assistance in determining the AR level of a specific book? Speak with a staff member or visit AR Bookfinder.
  • Events & Activities – Children’s movies, meet and greets, storytimes, crafts, and more are available year-round at all branch locations. Check the library’s Calendar of Events and social media accounts to stay up-to-date on upcoming programs.
  • AWE Learning Computers – These learning computer stations have over 64 new educational games! They can be found at our St. Peter, Parkview, and Main Branches.
  • Reading Challenges: Read to earn awesome prizes available to all ages!
    • 1000 Books Before Kindergarten (Ages 0 – 6)
    • Summer Reading Challenge (All Ages)

  • St. Peter Branch | 4:00 PM 3rd Wednesday each month
  • Parkview Branch | 4:00 PM 2nd Tuesday each month
  • Jeanerette Branch | 4:00 PM 3rd Thursday each month
  • Lydia Branch | 4:00 PM 2nd Tuesday each month
  • Loreauville Branch | 4:00 PM 2nd Wednesday each month
  • Coteau Branch | 4:00 PM 3rd Thursday each month

Young Adult Services

  • Accelerated Reader Books for School – Books on our shelves arestamped with an Accelerated Reader point base for your convenience, when available.
  • Events & Activities – Crafts, social events, and more are available year-round at all branch locations. Check the library’s Calendar of Events and social media accounts to stay up-to-date on upcoming programs.
  • FREE computer use, Internet access, and study spaces at every library

Online Services

  • Ask a Librarian – Text “AskIPL” to 66746 (message and data rates do apply) to ask a librarian any reference questions.
  • Online eResources geared toward children and young adults (please note that children and Restricted young adult cards cannot access our online resources. A parent may choose Unrestricted access for their young adult by coming into any library branch)-
    • Learning Express: Practice tests for common standardized testing, including the ACT, SAT, PRAXIS, and more.
    • cloudLibrary: Access cloudLibrary online or download the cloudLibrary app to have access to countless eBooks and audiobooks for free with your library card.
    • Fiero Code: Learn how to code through hundreds of coding tutorials and dozens of real-world projects, great for ages 8 – 18!
    • Homework Louisiana: Get a free tutor for all homework questions!
